Who We Are
The Women's Institute (WI) was formed in 1915 and is now the largest voluntary women's organisation in the UK. It provides women the chance to build new skills, to take part in a wide variety of activities and to campaign on issues that matter to them and their communities.
The Bourne WI is a friendly group of active women from the Farnham area.
We meet at St Thomas-on-The-Bourne Hall on the 3rd Thursday of the month at 20:00.
Our meetings are a mix of talks, hands-on craft and social events with, of course, a slice of cake and a cup of tea or coffee and chat. We also choose a charity to support every year and arrange fund-raising events to support this.
During these difficult times we are continuing to meet, via Zoom,
at 7pm on the third Thursday of every month.
We will resume meeting in person at our August meeting - visitors are always welcome!
We attend a show about once a quarter - locally or in London.
We meet every Tuesday at 10:00 in St Thomas' Church rear carpark (off Swingate Road).
We meet monthly to discuss books that individual members have read over the past month.
We meet up for knitting, crochet or anything crafty every month.
Music & Verse
We meet monthly and bring music and verse connected to the topic of the month.
Three Counties Science Group. A group of WI members, their friends and partners to meet about eight times a year to learn more about science and engineering as it affacts everyday lives. The talks are always pitched for non scientists to understand.
We meet monthly at a local pub or restaurant to enjoy a lunch together.
A group of four local WIs who meet for competitive evenings during the summer months. The evening finishes with supper.
